Mitsubishi Outlander Recalled Because the Backup Camera May Not Work

The problem has been traced to improper software programming, which can cause the screen display to freeze or go blank when reversing. The loss of this valued safety feature risks a crash or injury.

There have been more than 350 warranty claims filed related to this problem. Owners who paid for a related repair are entitled to reimbursement.

The recall involves 198,940 SUVs, and it replaces and expands a previous National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall (number 23V345). The automaker is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition.

All Outlanders produced after April 22, 2025, were programmed with an updated software package.

Owners will be notified by mail starting June 30, 2025.
