On the call, SSA managers spoke about how difficult it was to keep employees motivated, especially when they know that their work will have to ramp up after the shutdown concludes. “It’s hard to keep morale going with the way the staff is going, and they also know that as soon as this shutdown is…
If you were trying to learn how to get other people to do what you want, you might use some of the techniques found in a book like Influence: The Power of Persuasion. Now, a preprint study out of the University of Pennsylvania suggests that those same psychological persuasion techniques can frequently “convince” some LLMs…
Like Vaseline, ChapStick is a brand with a long, storied history. I’ve always associated it with the classic cherry ChapStick of my youth, so discovering this richer balm was a delightful surprise. We couldn’t agree on its hydration, longevity, and taste (yep, taste), which knocked it out of the runner-up slot, but it deserves an…
These bags allow stadium security (and everyone else) to see what’s in your bag, thus ensuring greater safety for everyone. And fair warning: If you wait until the last minute, you could get stuck with a not-so-great option depending on where you buy it (more on this later). We evaluated seven stadium bags, looking at…

The deal: an iPad Air for 15 euros (about $17) instead of the usual €879 (about $1,012). No catch, no strings attached. The proximity to Black Friday only made the offer more plausible. And so several…
On both phones, the crease—the point in the display where it folds—looks significantly less obvious and feels better than on prior models, with less of a bump as your fingers swipe across the screen. That’s great, but my biggest design complaint with these Folds is the camera jutting out on the back. It means that…
HBO Max may not have the shine it once did, but the streaming service (previously just Max) is still home to some of the best TV shows of the past 25 years, from The Sopranos and The Wire to Game of Thrones and The Leftovers. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the “it’s not TV” cable network or an HBO…
