More details about the lot numbers and package sizes affected by this recall, and the specific states in which each product was sold, are available on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.
The products were imported from Indonesia by AquaStar, which has issued previous recalls for shrimp processed by an Indonesian firm affected by a radioactive contamination incident discovered this summer by investigators.
In a press release, AquaStar said it was issuing the recall out of an abundance of caution. None of the products have tested positive for cesium-137 and no illnesses have been reported to date.
As with earlier recalls, the FDA says people who have purchased any of the recalled shrimp products should not eat them. Throw the shrimp away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. The FDA’s website includes a list of all the recalled shrimp products.
