We liked the powerful internal motor that revs up to 7,500 rpm on “turbo” mode, and ergonomic rubber grip that’s both stylish and comfortable to hold. This fade and line-up tool is marketed at pros, but it is compatible with standard trimmer guards if you’re not comfortable as a free-hander yet. It’s not for everyone—it did not work wonders on my 3a curly hair when I tested it—but if your goal in using heat tools is to prevent damage, this is one of the best options out there.
